A group of 5 youths hailing from Pathsala, Bajali district, Assam covered a distance of 120 kilometers on foot to raise awareness against plastic pollution and deforestation. The group is made up of Nitish Das, Kishor Choudhury, Dhrubajyoti Talukdar, Dintu Talukdar, and Dishanta Kakati.
“The weather is changing day by day due to deforestation and plastic pollution. We have to plant trees to save our earth”, said Nitish Das on their awareness mission.
These activities have serious impacts on the environment, and without conscious efforts to tackle them, they will only get worse. To educate the public about air pollution and its health hazards, the group decided to embark on this journey. The group also plans to plant 10 thousand trees in 2022.
“We also appeal to people to plant trees as much as they can to save our environment for our future generations”, Nitish Das added.
“If we work together then we can do something better. we all know that the world is suffering from a lack of oxygen. To save our future we have to plant more trees”, said Kishor Choudhury.
Dhrubajyoti Talukdar said, “Plastic bags are harmful to human beings. Due to polythene waste, millions of animals and birds meet their end every year. People are becoming prey to various diseases.”
Earlier the group planted 5000 trees and distributed clothes and food to the less fortunate during the Covid-19 lockdown. They also distribute food to the stray dogs in Pathsala town.
