Duliajan, August 17: In a significant stride towards enhancing customer satisfaction and operational efficiency, Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL), a state-run enterprise under the Government of Assam, has launched its first-ever prepaid service for domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) consumers in Dibrugarh.
This trailblazing initiative is poised to revolutionize the way residents of Dibrugarh manage their household gas consumption, offering a host of benefits designed to provide greater control and convenience.

The prepaid service was officially inaugurated at a special ceremony held at the residence of Sri Partha Pratim Gogoi in the West Milan Nagar area. The event was graced by the presence of Sri Ripunjay Phukan, Head of the City Gas Distribution (CGD) department, who formally launched the service.
He was accompanied by prominent AGCL officials, including Anshuman Thakur, Manager of Business Development & CGD, and Ms. Priyanka Das, Officer-in-Charge of the Dibrugarh Gas Grid office, alongside other representatives from the company.
This new prepaid system offers a transformative approach to domestic gas consumption, allowing consumers to track and manage their usage in real-time. By providing detailed records of gas consumption, the prepaid service empowers consumers with the ability to monitor their usage as frequently as they wish. This feature is expected to lead to more efficient energy use, helping households to avoid unnecessary expenses and reduce wastage.
In addition to real-time consumption tracking, the system is designed with built-in safety features and user-friendly notifications. Consumers will receive timely alerts when their prepaid balance is running low, ensuring that they can recharge in time to avoid service interruptions.
This aspect of the service is particularly beneficial for those who prefer a hands-on approach to managing their household utilities.
The introduction of this prepaid system is a part of AGCL’s broader vision to modernize its services and align with global best practices in utility management. By giving consumers more autonomy over their gas usage, the company is fostering a more responsible and informed user base, which is crucial in today’s energy-conscious world.

To mark the occasion, the first consumer of the prepaid service, Sri Partha Pratim Gogoi, was honored by the CGD officials. In a gesture of goodwill, he was presented with a traditional fulam gamusa and a packet of sweets, symbolizing the company’s appreciation and the beginning of a new chapter in customer relations.
AGCL is actively encouraging all residents of Dibrugarh to take advantage of this innovative service. Interested consumers are invited to contact the Dibrugarh office to learn more about the benefits of the prepaid system and how to get started.
The company believes that this initiative will not only enhance the consumer experience but also contribute to a more sustainable and efficient use of natural gas resources in the region.
The launch of the prepaid PNG service in Dibrugarh is a testament to AGCL’s commitment to continuous improvement and customer-centric innovation. As the company expands its services across Assam, the introduction of such advanced systems reflects a forward-looking approach that is expected to set new benchmarks in the utility sector.
