Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master : A Yogi’s Autobiography
Apurba Kumar Khound
Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master : A Yogi’s Autobiography was first published in the year 2011 and it had instantly caught the imagination of the world as the author recounts his first hand experience through the lens of a nineteen year old young boy born to a Muslim family who leaves the cool comfort of his home quietly one fine day to head for far-off Himalayas to find a spiritual Guru, responding to an irresistible inner call.
The trials and tribulations faced along the way and his eventual transformation from Mumtaz Ali to Madhukar Nath and finally to Sri M, the spiritual Master during the period of two and half to three years of stay with and under intense tutelage of his revered Himalayan Guru Sri Maheswar Nath, make the book unputdownable to readers across the board.
The book has since been translated to many major Indian languages.
Anjan Sarma who had earlier translated to Assamese the celebrated book ‘Autobiography of a Yogi‘ by Paramhansa Yogananda, has once again come up with a wonderful translation of the autobiography of Sri M which is sure to captivate and stir up the mind of every Assamese reader..
The book Published by Magenta Press and Publication Pvt Ltd and printed in India at Thomson Press, New Delhi is a quality product.
It has fifty chapters and is priced at Rs 470/.
The book is currently available at :
‘Bandhab’, Panbazar, Guwahati 781001( ph – 8135982641).
It’s natural that having read the book one would like to know more about the author and his works. A Google search ( Google God as Sri M jokingly refers to it in his talks) on Satsang Foundation will enable one to know of the philanthropic works carried out by the Foundation and for other information. His teachings are regularly uploaded in the YouTube by the foundation.
Sri M presents himself to the world as a normal human being.
He exhorts that It’s the teachings of the Master that should be internalized by a follower for spiritual evolution discouraging at the same time attachment to the physical form of the Guru.
He offers all sincere seekers to hold their hands and guide them to the Truth avoiding the pitfalls lying in wait along the path.
While his autobiography stokes the fire of spiritual awakening, his promise to hold the hands of sincere seekers is a clarion call of Hope to mankind.
