Padmashree Jadav Payeng was a featured speaker in the International Festival of Brilliant Minds -La Ciudad de las Ideas, which concluded today at Puebla, Mexico. Environmentalist and polar adventurer Rituraj Phukan also at Mexico to facilitate the participation of the Forest Man of India at the festival.
On the 2nd day of the festival, Mr. Payeng was the last speaker among a galaxy of inspirational changemakers from around the world. His simple message to prioritize nature within the educational system was much appreciated by the audience comprising of opinion leaders, entrepreneurs, scholars, journalists, artists, and college students.
At Mexico, Padmashree Jadav Payeng signed an agreement with Fundacion Azteca to collaborate on environmental works. The agreement was signed during the Ciudad de las Ideas (CDI) at Puebla city with former Mexican Senator Ninfa Salinas Sada of Grupo Salinas, in the presence of CDI founder and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Social Change and the Free Flow of Knowledge Dr. Andrés Roemer and naturalist Rituraj Phukan.
La Ciudad de las Ideas is the most important International Festival of Bright Minds in Latin America. This festival takes place once a year in the city of Puebla bringing together the most innovative ideas and revolutionary breakthroughs in science, technology, arts, culture, public policy, and more.
The 3-day event that incorporates lectures, debates, artistic presentations, activities, workshops, networking and more. Past speakers include Nobel Prize winners, Pulitzer Award winners, Oscar nominees, Pritzker Prize winners, renowned researchers and public policies driving forces.
This year was the 13th edition under the theme “Reboot”, which took place from December 4th – 6th, 2020 at the Metropolitan Auditorium in Puebla. This year, safety was the primary concern with social distancing and safety guidelines regulated meticulously. Attendance was reduced significantly, with approximately 1,500 people in the auditorium, instead of 5,000, maintaining stipulated distance between attendees. The number of speakers were reduced as well, with 40 invited instead of 60. La Ciudad de las Ideas is an event organized by Poder Cívico, A.C., a non-profit organization that aims to empower citizens by exposing them to the knowledge, creativity, and critical thinking fostered by the festival, with the support of the Mexican Government, the State of Puebla Government and UNESCO.
