Duliajan, May 31: Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL), a leading profit-making Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Assam government, reaffirmed its commitment to social welfare by contributing ₹5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The donation underscores the company’s dual focus on driving energy sector growth and supporting community development in the state.
Ceremonial Handover at Lok Sewa Bhawan
The cheque was formally presented to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 28 at Lok Sewa Bhawan in a ceremony attended by AGCL’s top leadership. Bolin Chetia, MLA of Sadiya LAC and Chairman of AGCL, handed over the contribution, emphasizing the company’s alignment with the state’s welfare goals.

AGCL’s Financial Growth and Operational Excellence
With consistent profitability and a robust revenue stream, AGCL has emerged as a cornerstone of Assam’s energy sector. The company, which operates key natural gas distribution networks and supplies CNG to industrial and domestic consumers, reported a net profit of ₹120 crore in FY 2023–24, marking a 15% year-on-year growth.
Under the leadership of MD Gokul Ch. Swargiyari, AGCL has expanded its infrastructure, including pipeline networks in Upper Assam, and enhanced operational efficiency through digital monitoring systems.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Managing Director Gokul Ch. Swargiyari reiterated AGCL’s dedication to corporate social responsibility (CSR). “Our growth is intertwined with Assam’s progress. While we strive for operational excellence, giving back to society remains a core pillar of our mission,” he said.
Swargiyari highlighted AGCL’s ongoing CSR initiatives, including:
- Healthcare: Funding mobile medical units in rural Upper Assam.
- Education: Scholarships for underprivileged students in oil and gas-producing districts.
- Disaster Relief: Regular contributions to flood rehabilitation efforts.
