Assam Mountaineering Association Released the Souvenir

Guwahati, the 3rd April 2023: The pioneer adventure sports organization of Northeast India Assam Mountaineering Association yesterday released the souvenir for their forthcoming mega mountaineering expedition to world’s third highest peak Mount Kanchenjunga at the auditorium of PWD Convention and Training Centre here.
This expedition will be the first one from entire Northeast to attempt this magnificent peak of the mighty Himalayas.
Veteran journalist, mountaineer and Indian Mountaineering Foundation’s “Nain Singh Kishen Singh Lifetime Achievement Award” winner for the year 2017 Manik Banerjee formally released the souvenir which has been edited by Dr. Jagadish Basmatary.
The ceremony was attended by organizing committee’s prominent advisers and Addl. Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Assam Maninder Singh, Addl. Director General of Assam Police Hiren Chandra Nath and large nos. of officials from Sports and Home Department among others.
A citation was also presented to the Chief Convener of the expedition organizing committee Satyen Sarma for his outstanding contribution in organizing this expedition and association’s earlier expeditions to Mount Everest in 2015 and 2016.

After the release of the souvenir, gradation certificates for various adventure activities undertaken by the association in last year were also distributed among the participants.
These include expedition to Mount UT Kangri in Ladakh, Kedarkanth Trekking Expedition in Uttarakhand, Borail Wildlife Sanctuary Exploration in Barak Valley, 54th Annual Local Rock-climbing Training Course and 33rd Children Adventure Orientation Camp.
The entire ceremony was presided over by Chief Convener Satyen Sarma and vote of thanks was offered by Dr. Debendra Nath Mahanta, President, Assam Mountaineering Association.
