Bashar Noorzai released from an American prison!
The Taliban announced that they released Bashar Noorzai, the group’s famous smuggler, from an American prison.
Bashar Noorzai, the last prisoner of the Taliban in #Guantanamo, was handed over to the Taliban yesterday in Kabul after 17 years of imprisonment.
Bashar Noorzai was one of the relatives of Mullah Muhammad Omar, the former leader of the Taliban, one of the biggest drug traffickers in southern Afghanistan, and one of the biggest supporters of the Taliban in 1990. “
He was arrested in 2005 in New York, USA, and was sentenced to “life imprisonment” for his role in the production and trade of drugs, including heroin.
“While Haji Beshr was arrested in New York in 2005; If Haji Bashar was only close supporter of Mulla Omar; so what was he doing in New York? If he was only drug trafficker, then why did the Taliban try so hard to free him and they are so happy for his release!? The deep connection between Taliban leaders and drug trafficking is an unbreakable/undeniable, can’t whitewash them!”
In the announcement of the New York prosecutor’s office in 2009, Bashar Noorzai was mentioned as one of the biggest and most dangerous drug traffickers in the world, who has played a major role in leading a large network of drug production, setting up heroin production factories and also financing the Taliban in this way by using the large poppy cultivation fields in Kandahar province.
Amir Khan Mottaqi, the foreign minister of the Taliban, says: “The release of Haji Bashar Noorzai is a “new chapter in US-Afghanistan relations” and this shows that instead of using force, problems and issues can be solved through dialogue.”
Bashar Noorzai said in a news conference in Kabul today, that:” My release was not possible without the cooperation of the Taliban and this action will bring Afghanistan and America closer together.”
Meanwhile the Taliban have repeatedly described America as an “occupier”
and called the takeover of Afghanistan after 20 years, the result of this group’s great jihad against America.

On the other hand, his release has been described as questionable after the killing of Ayman al-Zawahiri and the Taliban’s cooperation with al-Qaeda, and social media users have reacted to Noorzai’s release.
Rahmatullah Nabil, Former Director of National Directorate of Security “ NDS” questioned America on Twitter and wrote: “Some people are trying to introduce Haji Bashar as the high-ranking Taliban only, and trying to exonerate the Taliban leaders from being involved in drug trafficking! While Haji Beshr was arrested in New York in 2005; If Haji Bashar was only close supporter of Mulla Omar; so what was he doing in New York? If he was only drug trafficker, then why did the Taliban try so hard to free him and they are so happy for his release!? The deep connection between Taliban leaders and drug trafficking is an unbreakable/undeniable, can’t whitewash them! “
Rostam Akbari says: “Undoubtedly, Noorzi’s release is one of America’s gifts to the Taliban. Because the Taliban showed Zawahiri’s place to America and America succeeded in attacking Zawahiri. The release of Noorzia is a tremendous privilege for Mullah Yaqoub, “Acting Minister of Defense,” and the southern Taliban. Indeed, the release of this smuggler will be followed by aftershocks from the Haqqanis.”
Meanwhile the US authorities have not yet said anything about this news.
