CM lays foundation of projects worth 130 crores in Naharkatia

CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation of administrative, educational, skill development, sports and communication infrastructural development projects worth 130 crores in Naharkatia on July 24.
Addressing a large gathering at the Naharkatia Higher Secondary field, CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma stated the move to develop Naharkatia as a ‘non stoppable‘ move from the government.
He laid the foundation of the he Naharkatia Co-District commissioner office, Namrup Naharkatia Fly over, Naharkatia Higher Secondary School building, Konwarigaon High school building, Naharkatia Hockey Stadium, a Centre of Excellence at Naharkatia Industrial Training Institute.

Sarma later handed over the responsibility of Naharkatia ITI to the Skill Employment Entrepreneurship Department (SEED) of Assam.
It may be mentioned that the Naharkatia Co-District commissioner office will be constructed on a budget of 19.5 crores. An amount of 7.5 crores sanctioned for building two storey high facility building infrastructure of Konwarigaon High school.
From a fund sourced from North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme of Rupees Seven Crores, a two storey building of Naharkatia Higher secondary school will be built.
He said that after electing as a member of Legislative Assembly in 2001, he witnessed a demand for converting Naharkatia to a subdivision many times.
A challenge for survival of Namrup Fertilizer Corporation has also risen.
After getting a promising leader to lead the Naharkatia constituency in the name of Taranga Gogoi, the residents of Naharkatia have witnessed a non stoppable pace of development. Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Highlighting the pace of development, Sarma said that a industrial corridor from Duliajan Madhupur to Namrup, a mini stadium at Naharkatia, Industrial Training Institute, Sukapha Kshetra at Tipam Naharkatia, road construction from Jaipur to Hukanguri, road construction from Bhadoi Panchali to Tipam are the remarkable example of the development of Naharkatia in last five years.
Sarma Assured the old heritage and importance of Naharkatia will be back to its original status very soon.
Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the vision of the central government to transform BVFCL into a green field sanctioning a massive amount of 11000 crores and re transform the old Fertilizer Corporation has carried a vital promise to transform Namrup and the region into an industrial hub.

NRL has also planned an industry worth of 750 crores in Namrup. CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma added.
To meet the educational requirements of Naharkatia constituency, Sasoni Higher Secondary School, Naharkatia Higher Secondary School, Jaipur Higher Secondary School, Konwarigaon High School sanctioned 7-8 crores for infrastructural development. Sarma further said.
Further Sarma announced that, the Sasoni and Duliajan Tiklibarighat connecting bridge will be inaugurated by January, 2026.
The inaugural address of the meeting was given by MLA Naharkatia Taranga Gogoi.
The program was graced by Bimal Borah, Minister of Industries and Commerce and Public Enterprises, Jogen Mahan, Minister of Revenue, Prasanta Phukan, Minister of Power, Terash Gowala, Duliajan MLA, Charadhar Gogoi, MLA Khowang, Bikul Deka, Chairman, APL among others.
