Depression and Hope
Nayanmoni Das
Most of us have heard of depression and have even personally experienced it.
When you have trouble falling asleep at night and keep worrying about your past, future, and mistakes, you are likely depressed.
The majority of people think that depression is a profound sadness. This is incorrect.
Although they frequently coexist, sorrow and depression are not the same. Sadness develops when something is unpleasant. Depression happens when things seem pointless. Even when something is unpleasant to experience, it has a purpose. Depression makes the world seem like a vast, space.
One will struggle to wake up in the morning, take a shower, speak to others, eat food, etc., the deeper the sadness, the deeper the absence of meaning, and the deeper the pointlessness of any action. We experience a sense of hopelessness and numbness because of the circumstance that makes us feel as though life has no purpose. We doubt whether we are good enough and deserving and we sometimes doubt our existence.
Our depression may be brought on by several factors, including personal problems, interpersonal problems, financial difficulties, and familial problems.
After all, at every stage of our lives, we are all battling our demons. Feeling depressed or nervous is OK up until the point where you decide to give up on your life, which requires a lot of guts but isn’t worth the cost. For instance, why would you ever give up?
Simply because someone betrayed you or abandoned you in the middle of your relationship despite having said they would stay forever, or just because you failed a major exam once, are unsure of your priorities, or can’t find peace?
Well, my friend, you do realize that nothing in this universe is permanent. It makes sense that sometimes getting your heart broken despite doing everything for your partner and not being understood by your parents or close friends is very painful and that you can’t even open up to anyone because you start developing phobias like algophobia, philophobia, and pistanthrophobia as a result.
Even though you need people the most, you begin to isolate yourself in your room and cut off communication with them. This doesn’t bother anyone, but it shows that you have trust issues because you begin to feel as though they will use you as a pawn, take advantage of your situation in the future, or make fun of you.
On occasion, it’s reasonable. You cannot, however, simply run away from your problems without resolving or confronting them on your own because you are a human being who has to remain in society or a community. You should fight for yourself and your growth, I assure you. Be thankful for your challenges because they present ongoing opportunities for your goals.
How will you handle this circumstance now is the question. How will you overcome depression and regain hope?
Everyone is striving to better themselves, as was already established, and fighting and working hard for their dreams and goals. If you don’t work on how to become better, life will constantly be full of troubles. There are many excellent things one can accomplish in this life. We can all do it, including you. We can all rediscover hope, experience love again, behave better toward others, and help others see our value once more. There
are many things you may do to restore your optimism and begin living again while erasing everything that has happened.
The first thing you can do is stop over thinking and begin concentrating on yourself. Most of your over thinking are irrelevant. You won’t even remember most of your worries in a few weeks, much less a few years. Embrace the procedure. You only need to wait quietly and patiently for whatever is waiting for you.
You can be kind to everyone because not everyone is a bad person. You can also help others, your parents, go outside with your friends. We all play both good and evil characters in other people’s stories. You have no control over how certain people treat you; it’s all a matter of their ideology and point of view.
Recognize that you will never need to prove anything to anyone. That includes you. You should be aware that the worst experiences teach us the most valuable lessons. Without any prior experience, it is possible to succeed at something. You don’t need to have a lot of talent to succeed at something. But without taking action, you can never be successful at anything. Ever. Creating habits now will enable you to accomplish more of your goals in the future.
It’s a simple truth of life that if you want to do anything extraordinary, something that sets you apart from the crowd; you must learn to be at ease with being different, which sometimes entails facing criticism, hostility, and even hatred. People won’t always be kind to you or say great things about you. How successfully you respond to criticism is up to you.
Reading self-help books like “Everything Is F#cked” and “The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F#ck” by Mark Mansion, “Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins, “Atomic Habits” by
James Clear, etc., is the second thing you can do. You will learn a lot from these books and they will help you develop your individuality and character.
The third option is to watch some upbeat movies and listen to upbeat music. To see the world and life positively, watch films like “The Shawshank Redemption” (1994) by Frank Darabont, “Good Will Hunting” (1997) by Gus Van Sant, “Forrest Gump” (1994) by Robert Zemeckis, and “The Pursuit Of Happyness” (2004) by Gabriel Muccino, “Tamasha” (2015) by Imtiaz Ali. Upbeat music can help you feel better and improve your mood.
Start daily exercise and meditation as a fourth alternative. A good physical appearance will increase your confidence and make you more attractive. Good health is the true wealth. Your mental well-being and general health can be improved by sense of calm, peace, and balance that meditation can bring you.
Redirecting your attention to something peaceful can help you unwind and manage stress. You can learn to maintain inner serenity and focus by practising meditation.
The last but not least thing you can do is use the Internet to pick up new skills that will help you become more productive rather than locking yourself in your room and putting things off. There are many free courses available online in fields like coding,
digital marketing, programming, and design that will help you become more settled later on and enable you to make money from freelancing.
Rather than dreaming all day and doing nothing, it is preferable to take action each day. People equate happiness with comfort. They are very distinct things. Nobody has the power to force you to change; you must decide to alter. Others may screw you over, but they can’t intervene to save you. Not every issue need to be resolved.
Every argument does not need to be settled. Not all insecurities need to be overcome. Be selective in your battles. You are not living if you are not changing or growing. Many people are alive in this world, but not living.
