Duliajan Girls’ College Promotes Research Excellence Through Two-Day Workshop

The Department of Sociology of Duliajan Girls’ College successfully organized a two-day workshop on “Academic Writing and Publication” on May 18 and 19 with the aim of promoting quality research, ethical publication practices and academic writing skills among students and teachers.
The workshop was formally inaugurated by Dr. Utpal Sut, Principal of Duliajan Girls’ College, by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his inaugural address, Dr. Sut emphasized the growing importance of quality academic writing and ethical research publication in higher education.

The inaugural session was attended by Dr. Arun Roy, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Duliajan College, and Mr. Dipankar Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, M.D.K.G College, Dibrugarh, as guests of honour. During the programme, Mr. Sharma officially released the fourth edition of the college’s educational research collection, “Unmilan”. Appreciating the publication, he offered several constructive suggestions for enhancing its academic quality and research standards.
The first academic session on “Academic Writing: From Desk to Journal – Search and Research” was conducted by Dr. Debasish Bose, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Economics, D.D.R College, Chabua. The second session was delivered by Dr. Rizia Begum Laskar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of English, M.D.K.G College, Dibrugarh, on “Quality Dimensions of Research Papers and their Impact on Publication”.
Teachers and students of Duliajan Girls’ College, along with faculty members from various colleges, actively participated in the first day’s programme, which witnessed the participation of more than 40 attendees.
The second day of the workshop was held virtually through Google Meet. Professor Dev Kumar Chakraborty of the Department of Economics, Dibrugarh University, delivered an insightful lecture on “Methodological Dimensions of Research Papers and their Impact on Publication”. The speakers discussed several crucial aspects of academic writing, research methodology, publication ethics and scholarly communication.
Interactive sessions held during both days witnessed enthusiastic participation from attendees, who exchanged ideas and shared their academic experiences with the resource persons. Certificates were distributed among the participants at the concluding session.
The workshop was conducted under the patronage of Dr. Jashashya Bora, Vice Principal and Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Duliajan Girls’ College. The programme was smoothly anchored by Dr. Bani Lekha Phukan, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Sciences.
The Department of Sociology expressed gratitude to all the distinguished resource persons, guests, participants and volunteers for their valuable contribution in making the workshop a grand success.
