That’s just five months less than Ukraine was under Nazi occupation during World War II.

3 years of full-scale war against russian aggression. A fight for the right to live, to be sovereign.

The same daily air raid sirens, bombings, and messages of losses from the front.

We are living inside a history book, writing it in real-time.
It is haunting.

Ukraine, like a wounded bird with broken wings, shields Europe – defending not just its own sovereignty and right to exist.

I’m proud to be Ukrainian.
Proud to belong to a nation of brave and strong-spirited people.

We’ve endured so much, suffered, cried rivers of tears. And the road ahead won’t be easy.
But we’ll not surrender.

Today, the leaders of European countries and Canada are in Kyiv.
Take a moment. Pause. Bow your heads and honor the memory of all the warriors of light in Ukraine.
