In the serene and culturally rich northeastern region of Indian subcontinent, the tale of Pranab Talukdar unfolds—a man whose life journey is a testament to perseverance, innovation, and a passion for community service.
Hailing from a humble village near Pathsala in Assam, Pranab has not only etched his name in the entrepreneurial landscape but also emerged as an inspiration for countless young people. His life encapsulates the powerful message that anyone, regardless of their beginnings, can transform dreams into reality through sheer dedication and unwavering focus.
The Roots of Resilience: Pranab’s journey began in the heart of Assam. He attended Guwahati Public School, where he completed his schooling until Class X. These early years were instrumental in shaping his character, nurturing in him a deep sense of discipline, and a hunger for academic excellence. His dedication to learning was evident early on, and his performance reflected his commitment to laying a strong foundation for his future.
After completing his Class XII from Army Public School, Narengi, Guwahati, Pranab’s eyes were set on greater horizons. His pursuit of knowledge led him to the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, where he studied mechanical engineering. It was here that his journey towards success took root. The rigorous academic environment, coupled with his innate curiosity and hard work, began shaping him into the leader he was destined to become.
From Engineering to Corporate Excellence: In 2007, fresh out of college and armed with a mechanical engineering degree, Pranab entered the workforce with Maruti Suzuki Company in Gurgaon, joining their Research and Development (R&D) section. This was a crucial first step in a journey that would take him across industries and countries.
However, Pranab’s hunger for growth did not stop at engineering. His desire to expand his knowledge beyond the technical field led him to pursue an MBA from the renowned Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong in 2008.
After completing his MBA, Pranab joined Hindustan Petroleum in 2010, taking on a role in the sales and marketing department. His ability to adapt, coupled with a strong work ethic, saw him quickly rise through the ranks. Yet, this was only the beginning of a remarkable career that would eventually catapult him into leadership roles both within India and internationally.
The Leap to Leadership: From 2011 to 2018, Pranab took on the monumental challenge of being part of the Leadership Programme at Robert Bosch in Bangalore. This period was crucial in honing his leadership abilities and strategic thinking. His hard work paid off when, at the age of 31, Pranab became Bosch’s youngest Deputy General Manager and Zonal Head for the East Zone. His rapid rise within the company was a reflection of his commitment, passion, and innovative thinking.
His journey took an international turn when he was appointed to roles in Stuttgart, Germany, and Shanghai, China, where he oversaw the operations of Bosch Online. These stints abroad not only broadened his professional horizons but also exposed him to global business dynamics, enriching his entrepreneurial mindset.
A Humble Start to Entrepreneurship: Pranab’s entrepreneurial journey had its roots in a hands-on experience that many would overlook. In 2014-2015, while working at Bosch, Pranab chose to immerse himself in the operations of a chicken layer farm in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. And he worked as a general laborer, learning the intricacies of running a business from the ground up. This experience profoundly influenced his entrepreneurial mindset, teaching him the value of humility, hard work, and resilience—qualities that would later define his success.
In 2018, as the Advantage Assam initiative was gaining momentum, Pranab made a bold decision to return to his homeland and start his own venture. His entrepreneurial spirit culminated in the establishment of NOBLE, a company that initially focused on school uniforms but later expanded into textile printing. The initial journey was far from smooth—Pranab faced numerous challenges, including repeated loan rejections. However, his resilience and tenacity propelled him forward.
Rising to the Challenge: The COVID-19 Pivot: The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges worldwide, and Pranab once again demonstrated his ability to adapt. As the world grappled with the crisis, he seized the opportunity to diversify his business.
NOBLE quickly pivoted to the production of masks and PPE kits, addressing the urgent needs of the healthcare system during the pandemic. This innovative pivot not only helped his business survive but also contributed to the larger community by providing essential protective equipment during a time of crisis.
Family as the Pillar of Strength: Behind every successful individual is a support system that uplifts and motivates them. In Pranab’s case, his family plays a pivotal role in his journey. His wife, Junu Patgiri, is a software engineer, and their daughter represents a source of strength and balance.
The support of his family has been instrumental in helping him navigate the numerous challenges and triumphs that have come his way. Together, they embody a harmonious blend of professional and personal life, contributing to Pranab’s enduring success.
A Beacon of Hope for Northeast India: Today, Pranab Talukdar’s journey stands as a shining example of how grit, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to one’s dreams can lead to incredible success. For the people of Assam and the broader Northeast India, Pranab is more than just a successful entrepreneur—he is a symbol of hope.
