The eagerly awaited results of the International Mahabahu Writing Competition have been unveiled, marking a pivotal moment in the Bhavartha Swarup Memorial Mahabahu Award 2024.
This prestigious accolade commemorates the legacy of Bhavartha Swarup, a distinguished advocate for nature and humanity who sadly passed away in 2023. Known for his unwavering dedication to environmental conservation and humanitarian efforts, Bhavartha left an indelible mark that this competition seeks to perpetuate.
Supported by the family members of Bhavartha Swarup and organized with the Multicultural Educational Development Trust and the Peoples Secretariat for Climate Justice, the award acknowledges outstanding contributions to humanitarian and environmental advocacy.
Now in its second iteration, the initiative continues to honor individuals committed to fostering a sustainable and equitable world, in line with Bhavartha’s enduring values.
The announcement of the winners has stirred excitement and admiration worldwide. The Mahabahu team extends heartfelt congratulations to the triumphant trio: Rudrani Garg, Disha Raut, and Moshood Farhan Jimba. Their entries not only showcase literary excellence but also reflect a profound commitment to the causes Bhavartha championed. Each winner presents a unique perspective and expertise, offering insightful commentary on global issues of pressing concern.
Rudrani Garg, the first winner, hails from Guwahati, Assam, India. She exemplifies academic and creative brilliance. Currently pursuing her Master’s in International Relations at South Asian University, Delhi, Rudrani has been recognized with the Chancellor’s Gold Medals at The Assam Royal Global University’s third convocation for her exceptional academic and co-curricular achievements.
Her work, “Rampant Upcharge of Academic Bullying,” earlier published in Mahabahu, underscores her keen interest in border studies and their influence on local communities.
Rudrani’s academic pursuits focus on non-Western perspectives in International Relations and non-traditional security issues, particularly concerning borders. She challenges traditional Westphalian concepts by integrating local community voices into the discourse, with a special emphasis on India’s Northeastern borders.
Disha Raut, the second winner from India, is a dynamic Product Analyst and a Young India Fellow. With a solid foundation in Economics from Christ University, Bangalore, and further intellectual enrichment through the Young India Fellowship at Ashoka University, Disha excels at TBO Holidays as a Product Analyst.
Her expertise in Microsoft Excel, Segment CDP, and SQL allows her to deliver transformative business intelligence and actionable insights through advanced data analysis. Disha’s competition entry highlights her analytical prowess and her commitment to leveraging data for meaningful societal change. Her work underscores the potential of data analytics in driving innovation and enhancing decision-making within organizations.
Moshood Farhan Jimba, a dedicated advocate for environmental sustainability, is the third winner. Moshood Farhan Jimba is from Nigeria.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry and Wildlife, a Master’s Degree in Forest Biology and Silviculture, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Moshood brings extensive knowledge to his field. His research interests include forest ecology, biodiversity management and conservation, climate change mitigation and adaptation, forest restoration and rehabilitation, and remote sensing and GIS.
Moshood’s strong analytical, statistical, writing, and research skills have led to publications in prestigious journals locally and internationally. His commitment to forest ecology and climate change emphasizes the urgent need for sustainable practices and conservation efforts amid global environmental challenges.
