Under this project, an organized Pathar Parichalana Samitis (PPS) in selected villages are adopted for two-years. During this cycle, farmers receive assistance and comprehensive support, including quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, agricultural equipment, and field training by experts of Agriculture Department, Assam. This crop cultivation is organized across two key seasons: Sali Paddy cultivation during the Kharif season and Rabi Vegetable cultivation in winter.
To date, this initiative has transformed the livelihoods of over 35,000 farming families across 227 villages, covering nearly 11,000 hectares of farmland in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Charaideo, and Sivasagar districts.
The Sali Crops Cutting Programme is a crucial event within this initiative, designed to assess paddy production outcomes in the adopted villages.
Conducted under the technical guidance of agricultural experts, the event plays a crucial role in assessing the project’s impact on local agriculture and refining strategies for future development in the sector. By leveraging the expertise of seasoned professionals, the initiative ensures that the most effective and sustainable agricultural practices are identified and promoted.
This comprehensive evaluation not only highlights the successes and areas for improvement but also informs the planning and implementation of future projects, ensuring they are tailored to meet the specific needs of the community and environment.
Through these concerted efforts, Oil India Limited’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives continue to make significant contributions to fostering agricultural resilience. By empowering local farmers with the knowledge and resources necessary to adapt to changing environmental conditions and market demands, the initiative helps build a more robust agricultural sector. This, in turn, enhances food security and provides a stable foundation for economic growth in the region.
Moreover, the program strengthens the socio-economic fabric of OIL’s operational areas by creating job opportunities, increasing household incomes, and improving the overall quality of life for local communities.
By investing in agriculture, OIL not only supports the livelihoods of individual farmers but also stimulates the local economy, promoting sustainable development that benefits everyone in the region. These efforts underscore OIL’s commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen, dedicated to the long-term prosperity and well-being of its operational areas.
