Giving a fresh boost to youth skill development and employment, Oil India Limited (OIL) has inducted the first batch of 300 unemployed youth under its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Project OIL Swabalamban, for the financial year 2026-27. The induction programme was held at the OIL Swabalamban Training Centre in Guwahati on Tuesday.
Senior officials of OIL welcomed the trainees and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity, describing skill development as a key step towards building successful careers.

During the current financial year, OIL plans to train a total of 900 unemployed youth and help them secure jobs in the hospitality industry through its placement-linked programme.
The training will be conducted in three specialised trades-Food & Beverage Service Associate, Front Office Associate and Guest Service Associate (Housekeeping)-under the Tourism and Hospitality Sector Skill Council (THSC), recognised by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
The programme primarily benefits youth from OIL’s operational areas in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura, while also providing opportunities to eligible candidates from other parts of Assam.
To ensure that deserving candidates can participate without financial burden, OIL will bear the complete cost of the training under its CSR programme. The support includes course fees, hostel accommodation, meals, uniforms, study materials, transportation and other essential expenses.
Besides technical training, participants will also receive lessons in communication skills, digital literacy, personality development, workplace etiquette and grooming, helping them become confident and job-ready professionals.

Since its launch in 2013-14, Project OIL Swabalamban has transformed the lives of thousands of young people. The initiative has trained more than 23,000 youth and facilitated employment for over 19,000 candidates across different industries and service sectors in the country, making it one of OIL’s most impactful CSR programmes aimed at creating sustainable livelihoods.
