Paris, 50°C (122°F) in summer?
CLIMATE CHANGE

Could we be heading for a future where Paris feels like the Sahara?
This is unfortunately not an unlikely scenario.
In 2019, Paris already hit 43°C.
The year is 2032.

Paris has been hit by a heatwave.
Temperatures have soared past 50°C for ten days straight.
This isn’t fiction.
This was the scenario of a crisis simulation on October 13th 2023.
A full-scale exercise to prepare the city for extreme temperatures called “Paris à 50 °C”.
So what needs to be done now?
Paris needs more green spaces.
Trees and vertical greenery must replace asphalt and concrete.
The iconic zinc rooftops of Paris?
They may need to be replaced or painted white to reflect heat.
Paris must adapt and the time to act is now.
How do we build a city that can survive 50°C summers?
