With a new year comes a new conspiracy, and new drama that will liven up news channels. People are anyway made to feel endangered nowadays, but this time it has happened to our Prime Minister on the way to a rally in Ferozepur, Punjab. If you watch the mainstream media channels, you won’t understand what really happened, for they have decided to ignore facts. BJP ministers organised prayers for the long life of the prime minister after his return from Punjab! (slow claps).
Well, the fact is, the Prime Minister was to attend a rally at Ferozepur. The farmer’s association had already informed that they would neither participate in the rally themselves, nor let anyone else participate in it. Nine farm unions had vowed to protest against the PM’s visit. We might have forgotten the lives of 700 farmers that were claimed last year, but the Punjabis remember extensively. The BJP claimed that they were hell-bent on conducting the rally in Punjab, and that 5 lakh people would attend the event. What confidence! On the day of the rally, the PM had to reach Ferozepur by an helicopter, but the plan to arrive by air was cancelled due to bad weather, and the road route had to be taken. It is said that the route was changed last minute.
There is no debate that the farmers had blocked the road, and Modi ji had to wait upon a flyover for 5-20 minutes. And then he returned. But the questions that arise here are – Did the local police officers inform farmers about the route? What was Special Protection Group (SPG) doing during the planning? Was home ministry unaware that farmers had vowed to protest the rally visit?
But what happened next was unprecedented! The prime minister told the officials that he made it alive… The mainstream media ran the narrative pretty well and showed how farmers had come very close to the PM convoy. Not less spicier than a Bollywood script, eh? Smriti Irani said in a press conference that it was a ploy to do the unspeakable. People on social media bashed not only congress but also protestors. The Prime Minister went on to meet the President, and Supreme Court heard a plea to save the life of the PM.
Are Rs600 crore SPG and Rs12 crore Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Guard not enough? Or perhaps the UN should also learn about the happenings in Punjab?
But, the reality is quite simple actually… It is true that the farmers had blocked the road. But what about the threat? Is that a fact? Well, it’s crystal clear in the viral video footages that the people who came close to the PM car were in fact BJP supporters. So, how can Modi ji accuse his dearest supporters of being the protestors? And, it is also fact that only 5000 people turned up for the rally. Many claim that it was not security breach, but rather image breach that prompted the move. Security breach was a jumla. This new video has again ruined the two days of relentless hard work of ‘godi’ media. Time and again farmers teach them a lesson and fail their strategies anyway.
But, why are we like this though? Why do we assume conspiracy, toolkit, international angle, Khalistan, Vatican in every matter that’s up against this government? Are we no longer interested in facts? The world has other things to do anyway. We, Indians, are enough to put an axe on our foot! Let the rest of the world remain in peace, kindly. Why do we sulk on social media all year? This security breach story of Modi ji will run a few more days. It might benefit in the elections after all, eh?
Besides, the tragic demise of CDS Bipin Rawat last year also welcomed conspiracies despite it being likely that the bad weather was the culprit. The theories such as attack by the Chinese, presence of time bomb in the helicopter, involvement of Pakistan in it and many more nonsensical ones erupted. Now, within one month, all conspiracy angles are forgotten because they have moved on to the next story and conspiracy.
We find conspiracies even in every minute instances nowadays. The whole of November we tried to troll Vir Das as he insulted India abroad in his “Two Indias” monologue. We have the most popular leader of the world, haven’t we? So, how can a monologue by a comedian insult the country? But, when Kangana Ranaut described our freedom as ‘bheekh’ then why were we silent? Didn’t we notice any conspiracy there?
The problem here is – majority of the India has become obsessed with the term “Controversy”. In October, last year, we assumed that Aryan Khan must have committed grave crime. NCB even linked him to international network, and we wholeheartedly accepted it, since Bollywood image has forever been ruined in the eyes of the public. This desire to spot conspiracy did not even spare a cricketer. So, the list of conspiracies is quite long, worth an entire article in itself. So, take this into account that every month godi media will craft a new drama to distract the mass from the core issues.
These channels will make noise on Taliban but remain quiet on the auction of women in the Bulli Bai app. And now, the system eyes digital media as well, as was the case with Twitter. Oxygen shortage and farmers protest were also marked conspiracies by someone to defame the government. We are all aware of the farmers’ protest which was defamed as the protest by the ‘Khalistanis’.
Controversies are generally baseless imaginations, but they are imagined to benefit politically to government, by distracting you. Have you posed relevant questions such as– why are our economy still sinking even without the pandemic? Why is our GDP still on the level as was in 2017-18? Why are we competing with Pakistan’s hunger index and Bangladesh’s per capita index? Why are fuel prices highest only in India? Why has ‘made in India’ failed? Why are our numbers so low in the press media index? Why is India called a partial and slow democracy nowadays? When will ‘acche din’ arrive?
Too many real issues to face, but the relevant questions might bore you, even though they are crucial for the growth of the country’s economy, healthcare, education, democracy and many more. Hence, as government has no valid answers to these questions, ‘distraction’ and ‘conspiracy’ are the solution.
