The popular singer KK, breathed his last on the night of May 31st, 2022. He was 53.
Krishnakumar Kunnath, known as KK, was in Kolkata, to perform at a live concert at Nazrul Mancha.
He reportedly returned to his hotel after his concert where he fell ill. He was then rushed to a private hospital in the city where he was declared ‘brought dead’.
KK is survived by his wife and children. His wife and children will be leaving for Mumbai with his body after the Gun salute by Bengal Police.
KK’s first album ‘Pal’ came out in 1999, and after that, his extraordinary voice has soothed many hearts. He delivered several hits in the film industry in the past two decades of his career, including ‘Tadap Tadap Ke, Khuda Jaane, Ajab Si‘ among others.
In present times, he was mostly performing live in many parts of India and his social media is full of glimpses of the same. In Kolkata too, he was performing at Nazrul Mancha, moments before his death.
His fans shared videos of his last performance on social media, where he was singing his unforgettable song, ‘Pal’.
KK’s untimely and tragic demise has left his innumerable fans, singers, and actors in a state of shock. Many have already taken to their social media space to express their grief and to extend condolences to close ones.
It is declared that singer KK died shortly after performing at the concert, prompting police investigation.
Police said Wednesday( 01-06-2022), that they are investigating the death of star Bollywood singer Krishnakumar Kunnath.
Though minister of West Bengal Arup Biswas said KK had died of a “suspected cardiac arrest”, police said they are probing whether he died an “unnatural death”, and “we are also talking to the hotel authorities and scrutinizing CCTV footage to understand what had happened before he was taken to the hospital,” said police official Sanjoy Mukherjee.
Born in Delhi into a south Indian family, the versatile singer began his career with advertising jingles and recorded songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Bengali.
Many paid tribute on an Instagram post put up by his management with photos showing KK singing in front of a roaring crowd.
