PRATIMA PANDEY: OBSERVATION OF THE DEATH ANNIVERSARY
Like the past years, this year also the 20th Death Anniversary of the Legendary Artiste, Queen of Goalpariya folklore, Padmashree Pratima Barua Pandey has been observed with great honour and respect on 27th December, 2022 at Chandmari, Guwahati.
In the function, organized by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) at Chanmari, Guwahati, Sri Ekalabya Gam of Dhemaji, an eminent folk artiste, has been awarded Padmashree Pratima Barua Pandey Award for his tremendous dedicated work for the development and preservation of Missing traditional folk music.
Dr. Samujjwal Kumar Bhattacharya, Sri Dipanka Nath, Sri Sankar Jyoti Baruah, the Chief Advisor, the former President and the General Secretary of AASU respectively along with other office bearers of the AASU have felicitated Sri Gam with the award.
Dr. Samujjwal Kumar Bhattacharya, in his speech has emphasized upon the well-preservation of ‘Hawakhana,’ Pratima Barua Pandey’s residence at Matiyabag, Gauripur and the development of folklores and folk artistes of Assam.
In the function Smt. Miranda Choudhury, an ‘A Grade’ Artiste of All India Radio, Guwahati and a ‘GURU’ of Goalpariya folk songs, has performed beautifully with her troop which attracted large applauses from the mass gathering.
Eminent senior artistes like Sri Ramen Choudhury, Smt Manisha Hazarika and other intellectuals and art-lovers have blessed the programme with their warm presence.
