Beirut: In an elegant gathering that brought together a distinguished assembly of influential personalities from various sectors, including culture, literature, politics, and media, the Anwar Salman Cultural Foundation, in partnership with the esteemed American University of Beirut, organized a heartfelt tribute ceremony dedicated to the celebrated poet Shawqi Bzeih.
This special event marked a significant milestone in Bzeih’s illustrious career as he was honored with the prestigious Anwar Salman Award for Creativity in the category of Arabic poetry.



The award stands as a testament to Bzeih’s remarkable literary achievements and his profound and lasting impact on the rich tradition of Arabic poetry.

.The event was inaugurated by journalist and media personality Sana Daou, who paid a heartfelt tribute to the late poet Anwar Salman with her signature eloquence and presence. She then introduced the evening’s speakers:
Suleiman Bukhti, critic, publisher, and Secretary of the Anwar Salman Cultural Foundation
Academic and researcher Ilham Kallab, representing the award jury
A message from poet Talal Haidar, delivered on his behalf by his son
Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghassan Salameh
Honorable Shawqi Bzeih, who concluded his remarks with a recitation of his poem The Shirts of Yusuf .
The ceremony concluded with a short documentary highlighting the poet’s literary journey, the formal presentation of the award and certificate of recognition, and the unveiling of a portrait of Bzeih painted by artist Ali Shahrour. The artwork was commissioned and gifted by visual artist Khayrat Al-Zein
