The abandoned one!

It was a bright sunny day, and I was playing

“He is so cute, I want him”, I heard someone saying.

I had no idea of what was going on,

She beckoned me saying, “Let’s go home, come-on!”

After thinking for a while, I ran towards her

And to greet the lady, I licked her shoe of leather.

She picked me up and sat in the car

We stopped at a place, not very far.

Other dogs back at the shop said to me,

“Congratulations dear, now you are free.

You are lucky that they have adopted you

Have fun but do miss us, we are still in the queue.”

My heart just raced at the sight of home

The first thing they did was to bath me with foam!

No matter how much I hated it, I still got adjusted

Fifteen minutes, every single week, the torture lasted.

I am so happy; I am a part of the family

They would feed me well and look after me lovingly.

I made sure that no one else came near to them

But if they didn’t want me to bark, they would say “Ahem”!

I love them and I am so grateful

To them I attribute my life, it is so beautiful.

What they are to me cannot be defined

A single term for infinite feelings can’t be coined.

It so happened that one fine day,

A car ran into me and my senses were at bay.

I opened my eyes just to see some people talk,

“It is serious” said a person in white, “He wouldn’t be able to walk”.

I saw the terror on her face, she was barely there,

He consoled her and said that I would need extreme care.

“Honey it would cost a lot & still he wouldn’t be of any use,

We better get rid of him and blame it on the accuse”.

I heard this and in my chest my heart sank,

He can never say this about me, I know, I’m sure, to be frank!

But then with my hazel eyesight, I saw them vanish

May all this be just a dream, Oh I wish!

My feet lay there, unable to move, frozen!

For me to have a heartbreak, was this day chosen?

I want to run behind her, stop her

She needs to know that I wouldn’t survive, if not for her!

All my strength and energy is now in vain,

I drowned in my inner sorrow, leave aside the physical pain.

Oh Lord, please help me get rid of this madness

Let me rest in peace and put an end to this eternal sadness!!!
