Today is the 34th day of WAR in Ukraine.
Negotiations in focus. Both Ukrainian and Russian delegations are in Turkey, ready to start face-to-face negotiations in Istanbul this morning.
Let’s have a look on the positions before the talks start.
Invaders failed to establish control over half of Ukraine and didn’t put puppet government in Kyiv, which they initially planned to achieve in few days.
More than 1 month of war resulted for Russia in issues with logistics, loss in manpower and military machinery they never faced before, drop in morale of troops.
The myth about 2nd or 3rd strongest army in the world was ruined just in few weeks.
Land corridor to Crimea was created, but it is the corridor on a hostile territory under risk of Ukrainian counterattacks.
Occupation administrations in the southern cities of Ukraine instead of people’s support face with strong civil resistance.
The only working tool left in their hands is terror – massive shelling of defending cities, cruise and ballistic missiles hits on infrastructure all over Ukraine, hardcore on occupied territories.
Sanctions, exodus of international companies, trade and logistics barriers, hunting of funds and assets… all together it created huge pressure on Russian economy and elites. What is more important, there are still many mechanisms to further increase this pressure.
Ukraine lost part of territory in the south but now increases pressure trying to regain control over Kherson region.
Seaports on Black Sea remain under Ukrainian flag. Seaports on Azov Sea can’t be used by Russians.
The port of Mariupol together with most of the city territory is still under control of Ukrainian troops. Mariupol stands despite being encircled and suffering from attacks during all these weeks.
The port of Berdyansk was successfully attacked by Ukrainian artillery few days ago, proving it is not a safe harbor for Russian warships.
Yesterday Ukrainian army established control over Irpin, important satellite city northwest to Kyiv, and keeps on pushing invaders away from the capital in all directions.
Ukrainian forces made some successful counterattacks in the northeast direction improving own positions.
On the diplomatic battlefield, Ukraine achieved enormous progress since the beginning of war and now relies on consolidated financial, military and humanitarian support of developed countries.
We want peace but we prepare ourselves for a long war, having no optimistic expectations from these negotiations.
We are strong.
We are the nation. We are Ukrainians!
