UKRAINE: “Where to go?”

Yulia Svyrydenko
“Where to go?”
This is the question heard in frontline communities. People are leaving their homes under shelling, searching not for temporary shelter but for a new place to live.
Today I am in Pavlohrad together with the government and rescue team. The center here is working at full capacity — just this summer, more than 52,000 people were evacuated from Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, including thousands of children and hundreds of people with limited mobility.

To ease the load on the center, we are opening new transit hubs in Lozova and Voloske. By the end of the month, at least 30,000 places will be prepared across 15 regions and in Kyiv, including for people with limited mobility.
Ukrzaliznytsia is transporting thousands of evacuees daily with additional train cars. I have given the necessary instructions to the relevant ministries and agencies — from setting up new centers to preparing infrastructure for the winter.
Our task is to ensure that no one is left alone with the question “where to go.” People must receive protection and support. I thank the rescuers, volunteers, and communities who help Ukrainians every day on their way to safety.
