Vidya Bharati‘s first School on Wheels sent to Manipur

Guwahati, 30 April: A mobile education initiative called the ‘School on Wheels’, funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by the State Bank of India Mutual Fund (SBIMF), was inaugurated today at the local headquarters of State Bank of India in Guwahati, bound for Manipur.

Present at the event were Vincent MD, Chief General Manager of State Bank of India; PVL Krishnamurthy, Director of NEDFI; officials from State Bank of India Local Headoffice; Dr. KN Raghunandan, National Organising Secretary of Vidya Bharati Higher Education; Dr. Pawan Tiwari, Organising Secretary of Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra; Dr. Jagdindra Roy Chowdhury, Secretary of Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra; Kulendra Kumar Bhagwati, General Secretary of the Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam and other dignitaries.
Dr. Jagdindra Roy Chowdhury commended the State Bank of India’s commitment to social responsibility and expressed hope for continued support to illuminate the future generations residing in remote areas of the North East. NEDFI Director PVL Krishnamurthy and State Bank of India Chief General Manager Vincent MD praised the efforts of Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra in their respective speeches.
Equipped with computer labs, digital learning systems, library, various teaching materials, and sports equipments, the School on Wheels bus aims to significantly enhance education for students in conflict-affected areas of Manipur, particularly those in refugee camps.
