ZORO Backs Chin-Kuki-Mizo

A Mizoram-based group representing the Zo indigenous people of India, Bangladesh and Myanmar known as Zo Reunification Organisation (ZORO) said that they will do their best to uphold the dignity and maintain the fair share of the Zo people.
Meeting the media, ZORO talked about the present condition of the Zo people in Manipur. Manipur government declared the tribal inhabited areas as reserve forest which is seen as a tactic to grab the lands of the indigenous people.
Zo Reunification Organisation has taken a serious note of the Manipur government’s encroachment on tribals’ lands in general and the Chin-Kuki-Mizo tribes in particular. As ZORO stands for the Chin-Kuki-Mizo tribes across the globe, it would never allow its people being deprived of their liberty, ZORO will continue to fight for the rights of Chin-Kuki-Mizo tribes they said.

They also said that the Manipur government’s tactic to grab their lands, is unconstitutional and that it is a violation of Article 10 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
ZORO also said that they are proud of Manipur-based human rights activist Dr. Mark Thangmang Haokip for courageously opposing the Manipur government’s land-grabbing move and published historical facts on social media. They vehemently condemns his arrest and detention by the Manipur government and demands immediate and unconditional release.
