Emotional speech of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in the country’s parliament to support Ukraine
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni explained the importance of further support for Ukraine during her speech in the Italian Senate. Italy’s PM responded to MP Elisa Scutellà, who had raised the possibility of “stopping” support for Ukraine.
“Perhaps, Mrs Scutellà, you will inform Putin of this? I’m surprised you’re telling us that. Why? This is surely a betrayal of our position. Because it means that we approve of the invasion of Ukraine. Because if we stop, we are giving our consent,” stated Giorgia Meloni.
“The Ukrainian people are defending the values of freedom and democracy on which our civilization is based, and the very foundations of international law,” she said, adding that military aid is needed to help a nation under attack.
