Teenage Life

The day starts with a cup of tea

Breakfast of parathas with no less ghee

Or maybe there is some bread and butter

My mouth is stuffed, no words to utter.

Mom asks me about the day’s plans

I just shrug with no proper ans.

With my headphones plugged in,

I check my friends’ last seen.

Now the treasure hunt for my important things begins

“Without efforts, there are no gains!”

And still nowhere am I able to find them

I shout, “Mom, have you seen my journal of chm?”

“It’s on your bed and your I-card is on the chair

Why don’t you handle your things with care?

Be a mature, you are getting older

What if tomorrow, there’s a responsibility on your shoulder?”

While she continues, I try to escape,

But before going to the college, I would snap the landscape.

In the classroom, with style I enter,

There’s a reserved bench right in the centre.

Amidst the lecture when I place a yawn,

“Wake up!” says the professor, “It’s not yet dawn.

You are young and full of energy,

Still with the textbooks you seem to have an allergy!

Study hard kids, exams ahead!”

And my friend whispers, “I’m already missing my bed”.

Again the pending assignments, journals & completion,

Help increase the level of my frustration.

Even a small quarrel with a friend,

Seems as if the world has come to an end.

People have to face the swings of my mood,

But from inside it feels that I have to be good!

The level of my attitude reaches the sky

Yet sometimes, my grades make me shy!

I often hide my fears, is it a cool factor?

If this continues, I could be a great actor!

I am neither too young, nor too old

With respect to my personality, I have to be confident and bold.

In the society, I want to earn respect

And for the sake of which, accordingly I have to act.

“One day, I will make my parents proud!”

I say this to myself but feel like shouting aloud.

I am just a teenager with a lot of dreams,

And someday, I will make them come true, it seems! ☺
