AASU (All Assam Students Union) has demanded ‘exemplary punishment’ to the Army personnels responsible for the brutal killings of innocent people in Nagaland’s Mon District, and said that such incidents would affect the ongoing peace process in the region as a whole. AASU condemned the killings and demanded repeal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act or AFSPA. AASU president and general secretary said in a statement yesterday (06-12-2021) that AASU is in touch with the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and have assured them of all possible helps required by them.
AASU allged that ‘our PM, Union Home Minister and the Defence Minister always speak about improvement in the law-and-order situation in the North East and success of ongoing peace process. But the killings of the innocent indigenous peoples of Nagaland in an army operation exposes the lack of sincerity on the part of the central government and its security agencies towards this entire excercise.’
At the same time, NESO ( North East Students Organisation) also condemned the brutal cold blooded murders of the innocent indigenous peoples of Nagaland and demanded that AFSPA must withdraw from the North East. NESO announced a protest on 9th December in the capital cities of the north eastern states.
