Press Release of North East Indigenous Peoples’ Forum (NEIPF)
Annual General Body Meeting will be hosted by the Nagaland Chapter of the NEIPF at Dimapur, Nagaland.
Guwahati, 28th November, 2021
● The Executive Meeting of the North East Indigenous Peoples’ Forum (NEIPF) was held on 27th November.
● This is to inform that the Annual General Body Meeting will be hosted by the Nagaland Chapter of the NEIPF in the month of January, 2022 at Dimapur, Nagaland.
● The NEIPF will organize a General Conference the following day at Dimapur to discuss the Inter-Border issue of the region. The NEIPF will invite stakeholders, public leaders, CSOs, community leaders, scholars, intellectuals, etc., to take part in the conference.
● The NEIPF will initiate and create a conducive atmosphere by forming a common platform to allow free and peaceful meeting of the indigenous people of the region to minimize conflict of interest and human tragedies.
● A delegation of the NEIPF will visit the state of Mizoram to stock of the impact and make an assessment following the political crisis in the neighboring country, particularly Myanmar.
● One of the important resolutions taken in the Executive Meeting is to preserve and protect the Traditional Knowledge as defined by UNESCO convention, 2003.
● Documentation of traditional knowledge, including manuscripts, art forms, rituals and games, etc., will be initiated by the NEIPF with the guidance and support of indigenous people of the region.
● Cultural exchange conference will be organised by Nagaland Indigenous Peoples Forum in Assam Nagaland border area with the support of Indigenous Forum Assam and NEIPF
