Bhavartha Swarup Memorial Mahabahu Award, Books & Magazine Inauguration, and Speech Program

Mahabahu, in association with Multi-Cultural Educational Development Trust, on 16-09-2023 organised an event – ‘Bhavartha Swarup Memorial Mahabahu Award’ ceremony, Book and Magazine (Mahabahu English Fortnightly – digital and print version) launch and a deliberation by International Climate Activist Mr. Rituraj Phukan on Climate Change.
On 16-06-2023, the loss of an 18-year-old bright young man ‘Bhavartha Swarup’ has shocked everyone to the core – it is not only the loss of the family but the society as well.
Aided by the bereaved family, the event which Mahabahu and the Trust organised was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest Former Vice-Chancellor of Guwahati University, Former Pro-vice-chancellor of Tezpur University – Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury, Guest of Honour Litterateur – Journalist – Sri Prasanta Rajguru, and hosted by the President of Asom Natya Sanmilan and Former MP – Kumar Deepak Das.

The event commenced with the short speeches by Sri Anjan Sarma on behalf of Mahabahu, and Sri Debanan Das on half of the Multicultural Educational Development Trust, followed by a bonti prajwalan (lamp lightening), floral tribute and mourning ceremony with the bereaved family of Bhavartha Swarup.
As an initiation of the event, the book authored by the young writer and Assistant Editor of Mahabahu, Ms Kakali Das, titled ‘Symphony of Thoughts Untold: Reviewing Life Through A Critical Lens’ was launched by Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury.
With the book launch, Author Kakali Das gave a short speech showing her appreciation to the entire team of Mahabahu, Multicultural Educational Development Trust and everyone who graced the occasion, and delineated her three-year long journey with Mahabahu by conveying her gratefulness for the same.
She further expressed her overwhelming emotion of being birthed as an author, and for being one of the two recipients of Bhavartha Swarup Mahabahu Award, and urged for an endless support of everyone.

Besides, as an editor of the newly launched Mahabahu English Fortnightly Magazine, she expressed her optimistic views on it.

The second book launched was Anjan Sarma’s “Itihaxor Golam”(SLAVE OF HISTORY) by Sri Prasanta Rajguru.
Post the launch, with a short speech Anjan Sarma articulated his journey with Mahabahu since 1980, and said that the primary aim of the launch of Mahabahu Fortnightly Magazine is to encourage, inspire and provide a national and international platform for the young dedicated writers to express their views and connect with the readers worldwide. Alongside, he introduced a few budding writers and motivated them in the event.

Then, Mahabahu English Fortnightly Magazine was launched in both the digital and print versions by Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, Sri Prasanta Rajguru, Sanjeev Sarma, in cooperation with Prabir Kumar Das, Anuj Paliwal, Kumar Deepak Das, Dr Nayanjit Deka, Monikongkan Barua, Gautam Chakravorty, Tonoy Chakravorty, Debanan Das, Apurba Khaund, Tanuja Borkakati, Dr Rezaul Karim along with the eminent personalities present there.

Laying the foundation for the first time, ‘Bhavartha Swarup Memorial Mahabahu Award’ was presented to the Global Climate Activist – Sri Rituraj Phukan and Young Author, Editor of the newly launched Mahabahu Fortnightly Magazine – Ms Kakali Das respectively by Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, Sri Prasanta Rajguru, in cooperation with the father of Bhavartha Swarup – Mr Hemen Das, Sri Mukesh Chandra Sahu (IAS), Kumar Deepak Das and Sri Anjan Sarma.
As the Bhavartha Swarup Memorial Mahabahu Award, an appreciation letter and two cheques of Rs. 50,000 was given to both the awardees. The parents of Bhavartha Swarup Sri Hemen Das and Mrs Namita Das helped present the award.

The Chief Guest of the event, Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury consoled the grieving parents and the family of Bhavartha Swarup, and advised them to gather their strength and move forward in life. He said that the Bhavartha Swarup Memorial Mahabahu Award will immortalise Bhavartha Swarup amidst us forever, and that this award has started a movement to inspire the up-coming writers, and voiced his utmost faith in the calibre of today’s youth in this regard.

He also expressed his admiration of Kakali Das, her powerful thoughts and fearless way of conveying it. On the Mahabahu English Fortnightly Magazine and its inaugural issue “Climate Change”, Dr Choudhury emphasised the severity of climate change, and praised that the magazine is of an international standard. Besides, he appreciated Sri Anjan Sarma and his book ‘Itihaaxor Golaam’. Dr Choudhury laid importance on the publicity of the Mahabahu English Fortnightly Magazine, and urged the media houses, eminent personalities to collectively work towards it.

The Guest of Honour Sri Prasanta Rajguru urged the family of Bhavartha Swarup to stay strong, and conveyed how as a father he could feel the unbearable pain of the mourning family. He spoke about the voyage of Mahabahu since the year 1980, and the digital renovation of it since 2017, along with the newly launched Mahabahu English Fortnightly Magazine on 16th Sep 2023.
He applauded Sri Rituraj Phukan and Ms Kakali Das, and motivated them for their future endeavours. Sri Rajguru also praised Sri Anjan Sarma for his powerful demeanour and his relentlessly inspiring journey so far.

Significantly, the inaugural issue of the Mahabahu English Fortnightly Magazine “Climate Change” is dedicated to the eminent International Climate Activist, Global Climate Leader Sri Rituraj Phukan.
On the speech titled ‘Climate Change – A Decade of Fighting for Climate Justice With Special Reference to Assam and North-East India’Sri Rituraj Phukan gave a detailed fact-based analysis on the issue of Climate Change, and on his adventurous journey from the North Pole to the South Pole, experiencing how the glaciers have started melting due to the change in climate, how the earth’s temperature has increased, how the carbon footprints and fossil fuels are dangerous for sustainable Earth, how to create artificial rainfall, how Geoengineering, Climate Engineering can help solar radiation management, reduce global warming, and how climate awareness and climate action is the need of the hour.

He appealed to the masses to collectively work towards spreading climate awareness and mitigating climate change. It is noteworthy that Rituraj Phukan has undertaken the responsibility of further leading the ‘Climate Change’ section of Mahabahu in the future.
The host of the event, Kumar Deepak Das gave an emotional speech about the undying reality of life and death, and consoled the family of Bhavartha Swarup to endure the pain, to gather their power and strength, and assured that as mortals we must leave the ashes behind and march forward in life.

Lastly, he extended his gratitude to Anjan Sarma for igniting a movement and undertaking such a noble initiative for the motivation of the youth and reformation of the society.
The event was concluded by Ramkrishna Sarma’s formal expression of gratitude to all the guests, event organisers, media persons, sponsors, and everyone who made the event a successful one.
