In the middle of the night

I woke up to a soft touch

on my forehead

to see a silhouette of a woman

not fearful but benign

did I hear her speak or just

imagined the words

I am not too sure

but I received the message :

how could I sleep so peacefully

when there is so much sufferings

the pain of dear ones getting killed !

in the morning as I brush my teeth

I see my image in the mirror 

which looked benign too

or did I see the true reflection

of a lifeless, heartless man 

behind the mask of a benign face ??
