The highest revenue earning profitable PSU under government of Assam, Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL) targetting 1000 crore earning in 2024-25 fiscal.
AGCL’s Managing Director, Gokul Chandra Swargiary said that with the transportation of Natural Gas to Gas Based Power Generation project of NEEPCO Kathaguri, Lakwa Thermal Power Station (LTPS), Assam Petrochemicals Limited (APL), Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Ltd (BVFCL), Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BPCL) as well as more than 500 hundred tea garden factories and commercial establishments, AGCL has proved to be a success story in the industrial scenario of the state.
Talking to this correspondent, AGCL MD Swargiary said, after providing Piped Natural Gas to the consumers of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat districts the company has now outlined strategy to introduce PNG connections in Sorupathar, Bokakhat, Majuli and Dergaon.
Following central Government’s North East Hydrocarbon Vision of 2030, AGCL has formed a joint venture with Oil India taking driving seat in the agreement with 51 percentage stake. The venture titled “North East Gas Distribution Company” has started its preliminary works to provide PNG connections to the North Bank areas of Assam.
We are targeting to increase our PNG consumers to one lakh in next two years. Gokul Chandra Swargiary added.
Taking some noteworthy steps to introduce new technology to detect gas theft which has been a serious reason of loss for the company, the company has now introduced new pre paid metres instead of age old metering system.
Moreover, AGCL has introduced Ultrasonic metres for big Ventures, Turbine metre for Tea Garden Factories.
As informed to this correspondent, AGCL has introduced Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to check and monitor the natural gas pipeline extension to tea garden factories. In the digitalization segment, AGCL has introduced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), SAP through project Jugantar recently.
Leading from the front, AGCL Chairman Bolin Chetia and MD Gokul Chandra Swargiary the company has also stepped in alternative energy sector. With the view to establish a 50 MW solar energy project, AGCL started preliminary works in a 1200 bigha plot of land in Sadiya.
Very shortly we shall start Compressed Bio Gas and Green Hydrogen project in Sadiya, Swargiary said.
To curb the pollution and giving relief in the high rising price of petrol and diesel fuels, AGCL targeting opening of 25 CNG stations throughout the state.
Meanwhile, AGCL has chalked out a plan to establish a Gas Trading Hub by transporting 1 lakh cubic metre natural gas from on going construction of pipeline to NRL and later connecting this pipeline with Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL).
The said gas transportation line with facilitate continuous gas transportation throughout the year.
Gokul Chandra Swargiary added that, AGCL with 48 percentage stake in Purba Bharati Gas Private Limited with Hydrocarbon Majors Oil India and GAIL, shall provide Piped Natural Gas connections to the residents of Guwahati City and it’s surrounding areas.
We are in the way to establish 10 CNG stations in Guwahati, Swargiary said.
